April was a pretty busy month–and a lot of my reading was more escapism than much of anything serious.
But I did find a book that was really powerful! It’s titled Hope’s Boy” by Andrew Bridges.
He is a former foster child (from California) who has spent his life working to make the system more accountable and better for the kids who need it. Although he really only had his mother for two years of his life–was separated from her when he was seven–their connection never really broke. All the way through his life experiences, his love for her was what kept him focused.
It’s a powerfully moving book…a testimony to the power of love and the (potential) resilience of the human spirit…a deeply touching story that left me very grateful that he is willing to use his experiences to make the world a better place for others who have no power in the system.
