I know–I’m a little late in adding my book for September…but it’s here!

The title of this one intrigued me–What Size Are God’s Shoes? And the subtitle really got my attention: Kids, Chaos, and the Spiritual Life. It’s by Tim Schenck, and is an easy read. None of the chapters are more than 3-4 pages long.

Schenck uses experiences from his family life to thoughtfully–and humorously–talk about spiritual “stuff.” He is a minister, and part of the joy of the book for me (as a preacher’s kid myself) was seeing (1) how challenging it can be for other ministers to try to be ministers to their own family, and (2) how he was able to use everyday questions and experiences to help his kids begin to understand what it means to follow Christ.

He doesn’t always get as far in his discussions as he would like, but that’s okay. Every discussion doesn’t have to be “the last word” on the subject…sometimes it’s just the beginning of a discussion that will last a lifetime.

While some may look at the book as a way of introducing kids to what it means to be “spiritual,” I found a lot of good thoughts in it for adults…some good meditation points as well as some great sermon illustrations!

Lots of fun!
